About Passo Del Tonale - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Passo del Tonale - simple and full of possibilities!
In Passo Tonale winter sports freaks and fans will get their money's worth - the location of this quickly developed resort is nearly perfect. Upon reaching the valley, winter sports fans' hearts will beat faster at the sight of the Adamello-Brenta Park's huge mountains. This is the right spot for those not really concerned with the romantic and rustic, but prefer a more functional holiday in order to fully concentrate on winter sports. Passo del Tonale is surrounded by many winter sports centres offering numerous activities. Horseback riding, dog-sledding or carriage rides through the wintry white grandeur are only a few possibilities. A further attraction of the Adamello ski area is the year-round ski area on the Presena Glacier at 3,000 m. Thanks to its location, Passo del Tonale is a great starting point for all hiking fans. The 50 total km of winter hiking trails provide a great view of the valley.
SkiThe "Adamello Ski" lift pass offers access to 100 kilometres of piste and 32 lifts. The ski area is suitable both for beginners and experienced skiers, appealing to a wide spectrum of winter sports fans. Experienced skiers can carve down the 3 km long Paradiso piste, which is the most difficult in this ski area. The 1 km long floodlit piste in Valena, the 400 m snow park and numerous opportunities to show your free-riding stuff, this ski area is very diverse.
Another highlight is the 11 km long Ponte di Legno with a altitude difference of 1,691 m, which makes it one of the longest slopes in Europe. The 3,000 m high Presena Glacier offers a 3 km long run through glittering snow, even if the valley enjoys summery temperatures.
After a strenuous and strength-robbing day skiing, the rustic mountain lodges and bars in the surrounding resorts invite you in to relax. Look back on the day with friends over a glass of wine or a piece of pizza. If you still want some sporty action after a day on the piste, head to Ponte di Legno (10 km away) for some dog-sledding. Or, enjoy a romantic horseback or horse carriage ride through the snowy mountain landscape. The 300 m long night toboggan run Carezze is located directly at the Scoiattolo chair lift and is very popular among children.
The intermediate cross-country trail network measures in at just about 21 km. The high-altitude trail Tonale starts in resort and, at 8 km long and an altitude of 1,883 m, is not especially easy. If you've jumped this hurdle, though, you will be immediately rewarded with a gorgeous view of the mountain landscape.
