Once mainly a fishing center, today is a popular tourist destination, known commonly as L'Isola del Sole ("Sunny Island"), also famous because it is also a spa town; Marano Lagunare with, is the center of Marano Grado lagoon, which is famous for its uncontaminated nature.
In Roman times the city, known as ad Aquae Gradatae, was first port for ships entering the Natissa (Natisone), headed upstream to Aquileia.
Grado | Grado is a municipality in the province of Gorizia, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy, with a population of 8.611 inhabitants and an area of 111.33 km².
