Wolkenstein - holiday fun on Sella Ronda!
Wolkenstein is situated at 1,563 m, surrounded by the unique Dolomite mountain backdrop. The resort, dominated by the winter sports, is one of the leading tourism resorts in the alpine region and is the last resort in the popular Val Gardena ski region. Skiers and snowboarders will love the nearby famous ski safari, "Sella Ronda". Cross-country fans will get their money's worth on the trail from Wolkenstein through the secluded Langental. Wolkenstein's unique location allows guests to ski directly to the hotel, in some cases, and let the evening cosily come to an end.
Excellent restaurants ensure complete enjoyment! Those who haven't had enough after a day on the mountains can party in various après ski bars and discos until late at night.
SkiIn front of the impressive backdrop of the mighty Dolomites you will find the snow-reliable area of Val Gardena, which can be explored with the lift pass "Gröden - Seiser Alm". In total there are approx. 175 km of piste for fun and action on Europe's highest alpine pasture. Via 80 lift systems you can easily access the perfectly prepared pistes.
Beginners will find suitable, soft pistes around St. Ulrich and Wolkenstein, as well as between Sellajoch and Piz Sella. The more experienced will rather be drawn to the World Cup mountain "Ciampinoi" (2,254 m) with various black runs and he renowned "Saslong" with 3.5 km length. The slalom piste at Puflatsch is known as the most difficult piste with a total difference in altitude over 250 m - a must for all the cracks! In the snow parks boarders will feel right at home, and a good number of deep powder snow areas attract freeriders. Access via St. Ulrich and Alpe di Siusi rounds off the perfect connectivity and provides additional fun in the snow.
More diversity can be experienced with the "Dolomiti Superskipass", with which you can even access 1,200 km of piste in 12 different areas, including the Sella Ronda - the spectacular round trip in one day of the Sella massif! The Sella Ronda access point can be found in Wolkenstein.
At all important hubs in the "Val Gardena/Alpe di Siusi" ski area, you have access to free-of-charge wifi hotspots. At many mountain railway stations and in many restaurants in the "Dolomiti Superski" ski areas, free-of-charge wifi hotspots are available.
Numerous ski huts in Val Gardena invite you in to linger of party after a day's skiing. In Wolkenstein there is the "Luislkeller", the "Saltos" and the "Igloo", as well as the "Yellows" where you can spend some sociable hours. If you rather seek a quieter form of apres-ski you can enjoy the local specialities in one of the many restaurants.
Off-piste fun can be found with snow shoe hiking, ice skating, ice climbing or tobogganing. At the "Mar Dolomiti" pool centre in St. Ulrich, huge slides, a sauna and outdoor pools promise fun and relaxation. In the sports centre in Wolkenstein you can also play tennis or use the skittles alley, for example. Wolkenstein and its neighbouring resorts organise an attractive programme of culture, shows and events for guests.
Val Gardena offers cross-country skiers a true paradise. The stretches offer not only a wonderful panorama, but are also suitable for all skill levels! In total 135 km of trails await cross-country enthusiasts in the entire Val Gardena - including Alpe di Siusi. Above all, the beautiful location on the sun-drenched high meadow at Schlern Massif makes Alpe di Siusi one of the most popular and best cross-country areas in South Tyrol. All in all, the trails are rather challenging and challenge sporty cross-country skiers.
Less-experienced skiers will also get their money's worth, for instance around the Panider saddle, where there are quite a few lovely tracks. The approx. 12 km long high-altitude track (1,600 - 1,800 m) from Wolkenstein through the beautiful Langental is also great. If you really want to go up, head do the 37 km long high-altitude trail at Monte Pana (1,640 - 1,790 m). Here you will also find the Nordic centre. A cross-country trail fee of approx. €5 per day or €20 per week is also due in St. Christina.
