Brescia

Brescia is a city located near Lake Garda in northern Italy. It is part of the Lombardy region. The city is situated at the foot of the Alps, between the Mella and the Naviglio, with a population of 191,523 inhabitants.

The city of Brescia is the second largest city in the Lombardy region, after its capital Milan. The city is the administrative capital of the province of Brescia, one of the largest provinces in Italy.

In antiquity it was known as Brix, which is an important historic monuments still retains a number of Roman and medieval town including the castle.

Piazza della Loggia, a noteworthy example of market renaissance loggia specified by namesake (the current designates Square), built in 1492 by the architect Filippino Grassi. On May 28, 1974 the market was the location of a terrorist attack.
