Viareggio is a town and municipality in northern Tuscany, Italy, on the Tyrrhenian coast. With a population of over 62,000 inhabitants, it is the second largest city in the province of Lucca, after Lucca.

The Carnival Citadel
A few kilometers from the seafront there is "Carnival City", named 16 gargantuan hangars that serve as workshops and garage spaces for fantastic floats, passionately crafted by each highly skilled and priced cart.

Carnival of Viareggio
The annual moment of glory of Viareggio lasts four weeks, from February to the beginning of March, when the city takes place during Carnival - a floating festival, many with huge satirical effigies of a political nature and other topical topics.

The Boat
Join the locals queuing at this little white boat, docked in the harbor, which cooks the morning catch for lunch. The hot item on order is the cool fritto, a mixture of squid, shrimp and beaten octopus, deep fried and served with a huge friendly smile in plastic punnets.
