Syracuse is a city in Italy, the eastern island of Sicily, the administrative center of the province with the same name.
The old town and the necropolis of Syracuse Pantalica 2005 were included in the UNESCO world cultural heritage list.
Syracuse is one of the oldest cities in the world. Founded in 733 BC Greek settlers from Corinth, was one of the richest and most powerful cities of Greater Greece. In 212 BC was conquered by the Romans. The city of Archimedes (287-212 BC) who had been killed
during the battle for the Roman conquest of the city.
