Aprica - winter sports right in front of the door!
Aprica is located at 1,181 m altitude in the lovely Veltlin valley, in the north of Lombardy. The winter sports resort has approx. 1,600 inhabitants and is situated just eastern of the Passo dell'Aprica, which is the cross-over point from Veltlin to Valcamonica. A modern infrastructure awaits you here, bedded into a wonderful landscape. Many accommodations lay directly on the piste and offer an easy access onto the diverse ski area. There are some wonderful panorama descents available which lead down directly into the valley. Especially families and beginners will feel well at home here. The relaxing and regenerating mountain climate, as well as a good number of sunny days will surely contribute to your unforgettable holiday experience here. Away from the pistes you can enjoy the pool complex with spa area, a climbing hall or a round on the ice rink.
SkiThe lift pass "Aprica" offers access to 50 km of piste up to 2,300 m altitude, which can all be easily reached with 13 lifts. Here you can put on your skis directly at the accommodation and descend leisurely to the valley station. The ski area mainly offers easy and intermediate pistes, but there a couple of black runs to be found, as well. The "Superpanoramica" is known to be especially lovely, being the longest piste in the area and offering breath-taking panoramic views. A challenge for the more experienced skiers is the "Magnolta Inferiore" with approx. 2 km length. Even with its mild climate the region of Aprica is known for its reliability for snow, and 80% of the pistes are additionally equipped with snow canons for even better snow conditions.
The evening in Aprica can also end on the piste as the ski huts invite their guests in to linger and party after a fun day on the slopes. Also in the village party folk can find a number of bars and pubs to enjoy. If you want to remain sporty in the evening you can go ice skating or try ski tours and snowshoe hikes, or even test yourself by climbing the artificial ice wall. A cosy end to the day can be found in the many restaurants with their tasty local specialities. The local pool complex also offers a nice alternative with their relaxing spa facilities.
The picturesque surroundings of Aprica offer a wonderful choice of cross-country trails. Friends of the Nordic discipline can enjoy around 14.2 km of tracks. Diversity can be found on 5 km of skating tracks. Get on your cross-country skis and enjoy Aprica away from the busy ski pistes. The high-altitude trail Magnolta at 1,850 m with intermediate difficulty, offers beautiful views in crisp, clear mountain air.
