About Fie allo Sciliar - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Völs am Schlern - skiing on Europe's highest alp!
Völs am Schlern shines at 880 m with its charming and sunny location. Nestled in gentle mountains, the spa resort is especially known for its hay baths and mild climate. The extensive winter landscape around Völs offers numerous leisure time activities. Alternatives to skiing include tobogganing through the winter scenery, or exploring and enjoying the surroundings on the far-reaching cross-country track network and winter hiking trails, or on a snow-shoe hike. Especially dominant is the rock formation of the Santnerspitze (2,414 m) and the famous Schlern (2,564 m).
SkiWith the lift pass "Gröden/Seiser Alm" you will find 175 km of piste and 87 lift systems available in front of the breathtaking scenery of the Dolomites. The snow-sure and family-friendly ski area Seiser Alm, as the largest high-altitude mountain pasture in Europe, offers mainly blue and light red pistes. Beginners and leisurely skiers will enjoy the wide runs at the Laurin and Florian lifts, whereas the more adventurous will enjoy the slalom and speed stretches. The black slalom slope at Puflatsch is the most difficult run and offers an altitude difference of 250 m - a must for cracks! The snow park at Seiser Alm including kickers, rails and boxes also provides all sorts of fun.
The connection to Gröden via St. Ulrich offers even more variety. With an upgrade to the Dolomiti Superskipass, you can use a total of 1,200 km of piste in 12 ski areas, including the Sella Ronda, the spectacular day circuit around the Sella Massif with ski and lift!
At all of the important knot points in the ski area "Val Gardena/Alpe di Siusi", you have access to free Wi-Fi hotspots. In the ski area "Dolomiti Superski", you have access to free Wi-Fi hotspots in many of the mountain railway stations and food service locations as well.
Idyllic Völs is rather laid-back. Here there are numerous restaurants where you can enjoy national and international dishes. The nice bars and cafés sweeten the day with local treats.
The medieval Prösels Castle, as well as the parish church with its beautiful pulpit offer cultural variety. Völs' famous hay baths ensure relaxation. The hay baths, laced with medicinal herbs, allow you to completely relax and make fatigue and tension a thing of the past.
If you are looking for a more sporty programme, you can try yourself on one of the 7 toboggan runs in Völs or at the Alpe di Siusi. The winter landscape however can also be explored on a winter hike, or on snowshoes, or on a horse-drawn carriage ride- The idyllic lake Völs - in summer it is one the best and cleanest lakes to swim in the whole of Italy - is turned into a natural ice rink in winter, which invites you to practice your pirouettes.
The snow-covered Seiser Alm offers its guests cross-country trails totalling 80 km. On the diverse tracks you will constantly have the panorama of the Dolomites in sight. The far-reaching cross-country ski track network, with some challenging ascents and descents, is also a popular spot for national teams. The longest and simultaneously most difficult trail is the 15 km long Jochloipe, which is only suitable for well-conditioned skiers. For beginners there is a 2 km long practice trail. For using the trails at the Alpe di Suisi, a fee has to be paid. The day tickets and week tickets (€6 and €25, respectively) can be purchased locally.
You are looking for a larger selection? No problem: the trails at the Alpe di Siusi are part of the largest cross-country ski network in Europe, called Dolomiti Nordicski, offering unbelievable 1,300 km of trails! No wishes are left unfulfilled here.
