About Lido - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
The island is very narrow, but long. It was formed in time, by alluvial deposits, which the flow and reflux could not take. The authorities reinforce it periodically, at different points, with blocks of Istria stone. We know very old evidence since this island was inhabited, even there was a Benedictine monastery, on which stood the Church of San Nicola, which is considered the patron saint of sailors. Once upon a time the island was covered by forests, which over time were cleared, replacing the new houses, villas and hotels that made Lido, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Italy, at the beginning of the last century, famous for its aristocratic atmosphere. From the 17th century, the resort began to develop especially around the church of Santa Maria Elisabetta. From 1857 the first spa resort was founded in Lido, and then became very popular throughout Italy.
Lido separates the lagoon from the Adriatic Sea. The island is made up of 3 parts: in the north Lido, where is the casino and the expensive and elegant hotels, in the middle of Malamocco, where once were the residences of the Doges, plus other hotels and beautiful villas and lots of vegetation, and in the south is Alberoni, with the Fort San Nicola and the famous golf course.
Lido | Lido is another island in the Venetian lagoon, it is, in fact, a sand strip, 11 km long, located in the southeastern part of Venice. Lido is a luxury destination, preferred by both Venetians and foreign tourists, primarily because here you can have a beach
and a swim in the waters of the Adriatic
