Sardinia is a region in Italy. Regional capital is Cagliari. The region is subdivided into four provinces: Cagliari, Sassari, Nuoro and Oristano, have been proposed for another four provinces: Olbia-Tempio, Ogliastra, Carbonia-Iglesias Medio Campidano), which would be expected during this deca (see also towns Sardinia).
The island contains numerous extraordinary tourist areas including the Costa Smeralda, Costa Paradiso and Gennargentu. Famous for its beaches, the piece of land is also rich in other interesting places.
The climate is mainly Mediterranean, with a spring and autumn in the Mediterranean prinicipal a hot summer and mild winter.

While it has been quite replaced by Italian for official purposes, and while the youth is not well known in Sardinia, especially in Cagliari, Sardinian is still the main national language (Sardinians is identified as a people and as a nation).
Sardinia's currency (as a part of Italy) is now the Euro, but the Sardinians still unofficially refer to su Francu (or "su Pidzu"), a former Francu = 1.000 Italian lira.
Sardinian economy is today focused on tourism, industry, commerce and information technology services, increasing revenue comes from the famous wines and gastronomy. On its territory there are several gold and silver mines.
