Trento (Trent German, Latin Tridentum) is a town in Trentino-Alto Adige region of Italy. It is the regional capital and the Autonomous Province of Trento.
In 2001 the city had a population of 104 946 inhabitants. The region is almost entirely mountainous area of 6207 sq km has a population of 477 017 inhabitants and a (2001).
Located on Highway A22-E45 to Verona to Bolzano and / Bozen, Innsbruck and Munich.
Originally a Celtic settlement conquered by the Romans (Tridentum). Trento became famous for the Council of Trent (1545-1563), which began the Counter (Catholic Reformation).
