About Ziano - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Ziano - gateway to the Dolomites!
Centrally located in Val di Fiemme is the picturesque resort Ziano, a good starting point for tours in the Latemar Mountains and the Lagorai Massif. Expansive meadows and spruce forests offer a charming landscape that reaches right up to the resort's edge. The resort also offers a theatre and diverse restaurants, so that guests certainly won't be bored off-piste. The lifts are located near the resort and are comfortably reached with the ski bus. Cross-country fans will find trails commencing directly in resort that run, e.g. to the village Predazzo. Val di Fiemme's other resorts also offer great day trip destinations; here guests will find indoor pools, toboggan runs, an ice stadium and outdoor ice rinks.
SkiThe "Val di Fiemme-Predazzo" lift pass is valid in a total of five different ski areas: Alpes Cermis, Alpe Luisa-Bellamonte, Jochgrimm, Lavazé-Oclini, Passo Rolle and Ski Center Latemar. Winter sports fans have a large selection for all skill levels on 111 kilometres of piste between 860 and 2,388 m, all which are connected by 45 lifts.
Beginners should start on the sunny southern slopes of Alpe Luisa. Experts will love the steep Olimpia run on Alpe Cermis above Cavalese - there is an altitude difference of 1,390 m along the 7.5 km into the valley.
Freestylers can take advantage of various snow parks, including the Ski Center Latemar, with rails, boxes, jumps, a half-pipe and much more. The snow-sure winter sports paradise also offers great areas for free riders! To top it all off, there is a free ski bus service in Val di Fiemme that runs between the individual resorts and ski areas.
The combined lift "Laner" with 6-person chairlift and 8-person cabin lift at Ski Center Latemar was newly opened in 2016/17. It also gives you easy access to the new, approx. 750 m long toboggan run. A new mountain hut made of wood and glass with panoramic terrace and bar has also been open at the Oberholz lift since December 2016 and invites you to take a break. In Alpe Cermis the children's area "Cermislandia" has a toboggan run and a "Tubbybahn", as well as a new practise area for the ski school. After a long day on skis you can warm up and make yourself comfortable at the modern lounge-bar "La Baita Tonda".
Apres ski in Val di Fiemme is rather laid-back. Here guests turn into one of the traditional lodges in order to take in the last bit of sun, enjoy a picturesque surrounding or end a days' skiing with typical culinary specialities in one of the mountain lodges. In Ziano itself, several restaurants in resort are also waiting to spoil you with regional or international specialities. Some of the surrounding resorts in Val di Fiemme boast bars and discos, promising a lively evening.
During the day, nearly all resorts offer activities such as luge, snow-tubing or winter hikes. Ice skating fans can head to the rink in Cavalese or Lago di Tesero. Starting in winter 16/17 you can reach the new, approx. 750 m toboggan run that runs from the Almgasthaus Epircher-Laner down to the valley station of the Absam-Maierl charlift with the combined lift "Laner" in Latemar. A total of 9 toboggan runs can be found in the Eggen valley, e.g. the 2.5 km floodlit piste in the Obereggen ski area. Toboggan fans can also look forward to the Alpine Coaster in Predazzo, with which you can reach to up to 40 km/h on rails! A pool is available for the entire family in neighbouring Predazzo. The Alpine Coaster awaits luge fans, racing up to 40 km/h!
The "cradle of cross-country skiing", as Val di Fiemme is often called, is a true paradise for all Nordic ski enthusiasts. There's a reason why it has already been named host of the Nordic ski world championships three times! The traditional Marcialonga run has also taken place here for many years; this run covers 70 km through Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa. The area offers a total of 150 km of track and offers beginners both classic and skating-style trails in a varied trail network.
The high-altitude trails at Lavazè Pass (approx. 1,800 m) are both very challenging and snow-sure. The longest track can be found in Deutschnofen-Petersberg and, with its 25 km, requires good condition. At Lago di Tesero you will find the 1991, 2003 and 2013 world championship stadium, which is also called "the heart of cross-country in Val di Fiemme".
