La Maddalena Archipelago National Park is a geomarine protected area made up of a group of islands located northeast of the Gallura coast, in the stretch of sea between Sardinia and Corsica, known as Bocche di Bonifacio. These islands - with the exception
of La Maddalena Island which are home to the eponymous city and characterized by a significant human presence - are entirely deserted or scattered with small human settlements, as in the Caprera and Santa Maria Islands.
Garibaldi memorial house in Caprera where the famous revolutionary Giuseppe Garibaldi (1807-1882) retired into private life, died and was buried.
Other points of interest include: Garibaldi Column, Communal Palace, Spalmatore Battery, Church of St. Trinity, Spargi Island, Giardinelli Island, Abbatoggia Island, Madonna Port.
Also the island is noted for its beaches, the most popular being: Cala Coticcio Beach, Testa di Polpo Beach, Cala Spalmatore Beach, Beach, Cala Cala, Monti d'Arena Beach, Nido d'Aquila Beach.
