Turin is located in an area of 130 km ² in a plain bounded by the river Stura di Lanzo, Sangone and Pad (which crosses the city from south to north). Another river that crosses the city is Dora Riparia. Pad (Po) separates the hills of the city torineză plain that drops in altitude from 280 to 220 feet (from west to east). The city is surrounded to the west and north of the Alps and in the south are Monferrato hills. Castello Square is the town square.

Today, Turin is an industrial center, known particularly in the automotive industry, as head of Fiat.
